Boat Noodle @ Jaya One

Wohoo! Finally it is my turn to visit Boat Noodle! I did not get the chance to visit their branch at Empire Damansara since it is quite far and I have no transport to there. Fortunately, their second branch is in Jaya One which is super duper near to me,hahaha!

Actually there was a food tasting session (free food will be served) before opening, but I missed the chance. :-/

It is located at end of the street of P2 at The School, Jaya One. You can spot it easily due to the boat displayed outside the shop. It is quite dim inside actually. There are many seatings available.

I love the wooden table and chair with touch of vintage, so old school! In my house, there is one cup which is exactly the same as the one on table. It can be considered to be antique in my house as it was passed from my grandmother. :)

Menu

I chose Ayutthaya Chicken Thai Rice Noodle (RM 1.90) and my friend chose Pathumthani Chicken Thai Rice Noodle (RM 1.90). Ayutthaya is spicier compared to Pathumthani. Pathumthani is sweeter but still with hint of spiciness. (This is what the waiter told me and yes, it tasted like that too.)

The portion is really SMALL. It is served with 2 spoons of rice noodles (I guess...?), chicken slices, 1 fishball with parsley, spring onion and fried cunchy bits of garlic sprinkled on top of it.

Soaked in the sour and spicy sauce, the thai rice noodle is really appetizing! It made me wanted to order more. Good marketing strategy huh! Nothing special about the fishball (but it is quite nice to eat with the sauce and it made me full a bit), rice noodle and sauce are still the main lead.

Our achievement. Hehe. 10 bowls in total. I can eat more actually. Since I want to eat something else after that, so I stopped at 5th bowl.

Ka Num Tuay
RM 1.00

We ordered 1 Ka Num Tuay to try as we saw the table behind us ordered a lot of Ka Num Tuay! It must be something nice! The picture shown above is the serving for RM 1.00. At first we thought that there would be only 1 for RM1.00 as it was served with the bowls covered each other. After we opened it, we found out that there were two per serving, double joy! :D

It comes in 2 layers, with salty coconut cream on top and sweet pandan layer at the bottom. The top layer is soft but the bottom is more chewy. It is a nice combination for me as I love both coconut and pandan! :D I heard people say that boat noodle vendors at Thailand will normally serve the noodles with this dessert.

  3. Ooohh.. The food looks so good. Pretty cheap too since they put fish ball, etc. Kinda like eating sushi la ni kan, small portions for each serving. I'd love to try it.
